Dr. Browne’s Areas of Advanced Training:

  • Pain Management

  • Opioid Dependency

  • Emotional Imbalances

  • Stroke Recovery

  • Woman's Health

She graduated from the doctoral program at Five Branches University in California (2014-2017). She attended Florida School of Oriental Medicine from 1997-2000, and graduated from Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in 2002; the school director, Dr. Leon Hammer, is a psychiatrist and wrote the leading book on emotional disorders called Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies. Dr. Hammer also developed an advanced style of pulse diagnosis allowing acupuncture practitioners to “read” the quality and level of Qi in the organ systems. Most U.S. schools of acupuncture cover 25-30 pulse qualities; Shen Hammer Pulse Diagnosis covers over 300 pulse qualities. Dr. Browne was honored to train under the direct clinical supervision of Kathleen Levy, L.Ac., RN, Dr. Hammer's top teacher of pulse diagnosis, for four years.

She is an expert at treating opioid addiction recovery and withdrawal. Her doctoral specialty was Pain Management, but due to her years of schooling at Dragon Rises College, she also has extraordinary training and experience in treating emotional disorders such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. She is the author of the book Natural Therapies for Overcoming Opioid Dependency published by Storey Publishing Company with over 10,000 books being distributed nationally. The evidence-based book references nearly 200 recent scientific studies demonstrating the effectiveness of acupuncture, herbs and other natural therapies in effectively treating opioid dependency and pain, as pain is often the precursor of opioid use. She is an expert in helping patients detox from opioids without suffering from the extremely uncomfortable emotional and physical side effects that accompany withdrawal.

She became licensed in NC (L.Ac.-NC #243) after passing the national board exams (NCCAOM) and becoming a diplomat of acupuncture (Dipl.Ac. #17866). She completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) after graduating from Five Branches University (FBU), San Jose, CA, in 2017. FBU is well-connected in Chinese medical circles and flew in the great masters of Chinese medicine to teach advanced levels of Oriental medicine during the years that Dr. Browne attended. She has long been involved with community acupuncture and providing care to the under-served. Photos here!
